Climbing - With Ropes That is...

Hi guys,

I used to be an avid rock climber and I have access to a free climbing gym at work. I was thinking about getting back into it for some cross training during the winter. Anyone try climbing/bouldering for cross training? Seems like a good resistance workout without adding bulk. Thanks.

  •  Go ice climbing instead!

  •  I climbed extensively for about 15 years from the early 90s to mid 2000s.  Honestly, other than being a fun diversion, it would do absolutely nothing for your tri training.  

  • I used to rock and ice climb too. I'd have to agree with Chris---fun for sure, but I doubt that it does much for triathlon. Perhaps you could increase your grip strength to be able to snap off your aerobars?! image
  • What if I do it with my aero helmet on and transition between free climbing, ice climbing, and lead climbing all in one session?
