Bricks lead to hammy cramps

Over the last few months, brick workouts (and races, of course) have led to hamstring cramps during the run. My sense is that something must be wrong with my bike position. Without seeing my position, any bike fit gurus have any general advice? If hamstrings are cramping, does that mean they are being overused on the bike? What does that typically indicate for position? Will probably consult my local bike fitter but any thoughts here would be appreciated.

  • John, first, feel free to post pics to your profile and then link to them here. We like nothing more to see stuff first. In general, yes your bike fit is to blame. Hard to say exactly what it is without seeing you, but could be you are too torqued at the waist (seat back a bit too much, still hunched over) which puts pressure on your lower back (and by proxy your hammies)...allowing you to "Get Through" the bike but leading to suffering on the run. If you can, I recommend connecting to Todd of TTBikeFit.com....he's our default guru in the haus and has helped many an EN'er turn into a human missile!
