Recording Warmup/Cool Down Data

 I have been using my CT for all of my OS workouts. I do the warmup but don't save the file. Then I do the MS and any 85% work and save the file for subsequent uploading to WKO. And finally do my cool down, which is not saved. I've been thinking that I am losing a lot of data that isn't really relevant to analyzing my performance, but is there any value in saving this data and entering it into WKO?

  • I record the whole workout and have markers on the interval stuff. I don't pay attention to WU/ CD for anything other than time really.

    If you don't record the WU/CD stuff you are missing some TSS points, if that is of concern to you.
  • Thanks. So I guess it's not vital to record the warm up and cool down, but will help me to be more accurate with my numbers. Pretty much what I thought. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.
  • It's doesn't help directly evaluate how well you did any given workout but you are missing some work in your PMC.  So if you want to use that sort of data to analyze your race performances in rerlation to your  CTL for example you don't have an accurate measure of the total work you've been doing and the associated training load.  IMO you should save the entire session and mark the MS or intervals after to evaluate that component.  Just don't let it get to your head when you see your FTP workout was .8IF or something...there's a lot of averaging going on when the WU and CD is factored in with your 95-100% work.

  • It may not matter so much now, but it will in-season. W/u and c/d are TSS points, as others have said. The PMC can help you track fatigue (if you've ever been at -50, you know what I mean. image). Having all the data to complete the full picture of your training is a good idea. I'd save it all, as have been suggested, and just mark the MS.
