The Official IMAZ Race Day Tracking Thread!!!

Let's get this party started!!!  The Race Day Tracking site is here:

EN vs IMAZ 2010

56 degrees in Tempe right now and a little overcast, so they may be a bit cool at the start of the bike.  The pros are already on the bike course but most of the AGers are still in the water.

  • Wow Greg Charbeneau had a 57 min swim!!!!  That is coach Rich territory!

  • I found a couple of the eN team up on http://myathletelive.net/arizona/

    Colin Cook
    Julia Hermann
Terry Olivis posted he is using the tool but I don't see his name on the application yet - I hope he turns on his tracker
  • About to head out to the bike course.

Follow @TeamEN on Twitter for updates.
Check the IMAZ blog for more updates: http://imaz.endurancenation.us/, see the Race Day Tracker page on that blog for sorta live updates and splits.

Big Favor to ask: after 5p local time, it would be supergroovy if peeps watching the finishers video feed could text me as TeamEN peeps come across the finishline so I can look for them in the athletes area. Cell is 626-203-3278.
  • Lots of ENers out of the water. They are showing the bike transition occasionally so I'm hoping to catch a glimpse of an EN jersey :-)
  • If you text EN finishers to Rich, please add me to the message cell 253-241-6685. I have an athletes bracelet and will be in the athletes area at the finish chute starting at 9:45 race time, 4:45 Az time looking to greet EN finishers.

    thanx

I saw Terry O walking up the T1 ramp about 1:18.

It's going to be windy on the bike. Warder temp was 61, but no one seemed cold thru 1:20, when I went back to hotel. Day is cloudy and cool, but already in the 60s. Should be slower bikes, faste runs.
  • Matt- I found Terry on the list. Will be fun to track those guys on the map.

All ENers are out of the swim! Great job team!

Al- thanks for the weather update. I've heard there's been lots of concern about potential rain and high winds, so keep us posted.
  • Pauls swim today is 12 minute better than IMCDA, where he went 11:16. He should be under 11 easy here. As should Terry. Greg and Todd will flirt with 10 hours, with Greg having an outside shot at Kona.

Ellen was ancollege swimmer. Chuck Gs time is impressive, surprised me.

If you follow the pros, Henning or Reed is the mens winner; Chrissie is here, so...

Jordan Rapp is impressing just by bring here and getting in the water. Mar 23, he had a crash at least as bad as mine, 2 weeks in the ICU, no biking or running for about 12 weeks. He's my new hero. He won two races in 09, had a bad crash, and 8 months later is doing IM. CDA (my comeback race) is 8 months after MY crash.
  • glad to hear everyone is out of the water!!!  I just tried to use our tracker and it wasn't working... likely my computer. Argh!

I've been in and out all morning and not able to check the live feed... and am heading out again now but wanted to check in on everyone - GO EN GO!!!

    go chica stacy go!!!

  • Wow Greg Charbeneau had a 57 min swim!!!!  That is coach Rich territory!

I think he told me he was a collegiate swimmer, as Al said he does have an outside shot at Kona.....I think he said that about Matt S too.....
  • On the race for second place female don't count out Ankeny Iowa native Mackenzie Madison who is racing her 2nd IM. (Her father Greg Madison is also racing). TJ Tollakson who has been second here a few times as well is also from Ankeny.
  • Wow...we have some folks flying on the bike!
  • Lots of first bike splits coming in, holy smoke folks are flying!!
  • Looking at the live feed and dang, they are showing the "turn-a-round" and dang, that course looks crowded. Is this a double out & back course?
  • Triple loop course, Nemo.

Cloudy, VERY gusty winds, stray raindrops at this time. Paul, Todd, Greg, Chuck G all look good (Chuck's body type is, shall we say, the opposite of mine!) Don't know what caused Terry's slow first lap.

I'm leaving motel to go back out for the duration now. (Needed an hour+ nap just to spectate.)
  • Thanks Al! Have fun out there and stay dry.

Looking at the live feed- seems like it's downpouring out there now!  Be Safe team!

  • Thanks Al! I did wonder about Terry's first split. Still have a few folks first split to come in.
I'm at a football party with a friends iPad... Who cares about the redskins anyway?! I spoke too soon... Stacy and Julies splits just came in". Go chicas!!!
  • Watching the live feed - boy the 3 loop bike course makes for a busy course!!

  • I'm at dismount line. Rapp looked fresh. Henning, Bracht will fight it out for win. Reed has a lot to learn. Chrissie was all smiles, on target for 8:45ish. Ho hum for her. Primo spot to watch Keystone Cops as disoriented bikers get off. Rain lasted 5minutes. Chilly, windy.
  • IMAZ Blog Update #2 Posted, with podasts and videos: http://imaz.endurancenation.us/

Penny, Dave Ambrose, John Stark (napping in the car = weak spectator-fu)  and I uploading pics and videos at a Starbucks before hitting the run course.

  • Looks like Terry found his legs on the second loop! And some of our folks are still smoking fast!!! Awesome!
  • Looks like everyone is through the second check post and chic as Stacy and Julia are next to each other...
  • So cool, I wonder if Stacy and Julia area aware they are close to each other? They must see each other on the out & back, right?
  • Paul Todd Colin and Greg are off the bike - crazy strong rides!!!!
  • Todd and Greg are currently 10th and 11th in AG. Oh this is gonna be good! Hang in there guys!
  • Just saw Jordan Rapp finish. The scars on his neck ... The tears in his eyes. I broke down, and committed even stronger to coming back next year. He was under his time from 09. My new one thing.
  • Just watched the interview with Jordan Rapp- he's truly amazing!!!
  • Chrissie shattering the world record in 8:36...incredible!

  • Chrissie is unbelievable!!! Wow!!! Any sightings of the chicas? Todd Paul and Greg are rocking! Looks like Terry is finding his groove!
  • Actually looks like a lot of runners thru 3.2... Awesome! Gilberto and Ellen... Woo hoo.
  • Chrissie is not from this universe. She rode a flat tire for the last 6 miles of the bike! And still crushed the record.

The EN team is getting it done!!!!! Todd is rocking it ! This is coming back from a heart attack last year!!!!
