Lance Returns...

To tris of course.  While I don't think anyone would be surprised he's come back to triathlons,  I was surprised he picked a sprint.  With his super-drive-competitive nature, I expected him to bust out at least a half.  Do you think he'll go long course eventually, or stay short?

  • His buddy Juan Pelota has been teasing us a bit about this over on Twitter.
  • Following "his buddy" Juan Pelota has been entertaining. If half of what Lance is posting to that account is true, I'm pretty sure he is coming back to triathlon in a big way and has some big goals.

The rumors are 70.3 Puerto Rico and IM France. Something about a challenging bike course in France over the summer seems pretty appropriate.
  • I'd be great if he does San Juan 70.3 image
  • I thought he was in, for Kona in 2011.
  • I forget which press conference (it's on youtube) where he talks about racing sprints and olympics in the past as 'fun events' and recall a few xterra races he did with team Discovery.  During that same interview he discusses a return to triathlon and specifically mentioning a few half IM's and finally shooting for Kona in 2011.

If I recall he had won a local Austin tri a few years ago while running 18:xx off the bike for his 5k.  Still a decent runner apparently.

  • Man, I could see him tearing up IM France. If only to just show...yeah I've ridden around here before.

Agreed. Today Lance tweets "I wonder if that wheel sucker @juanpelota will be taggin along this am. Been windy here and that trigeek never takes a pull. Lame"

Cracked me up! Good cheep entertainment if nothing else!
  • It is nice to see that LA has a sense of humor.
