Saris Cycleops 400/300 Pro Indoor Cycles w/PowerTap: Feedback, experiences, thoughts?!?

http://www.cycleops.com/en/products/indoor-cycles.html?page=shop.browse&category_id=7

I already have a Quarq CinQo on my bike and a KK Road Machine and all that jazz.  Money not really a factor.  Just to get those obvious arguments out of the way.  I would customize it with the same Adamo saddle I currently use on my bike as well as putting on some Look pedals.  I would have it fitted to best mimic the fit of my tri bike.  The picture shows bullhorn bars but it actually comes with an aerobar setup.

My reasons for getting a dedicated indoor trainer are three-fold:

1. Convenience and ease of use.  No more swapping out wheels every time I want to ride indoors vs outdoors.  No more pumping up tires every time I want to use the trainer.  Just jump on and go.  Not that those activities are overly time consuming but it adds up.

2. Lessen the wear & tear on my bike.

3. My wife can actually use it.

I am aware of the issues that some '10 model cycles had with the electronic resistance controls.  Supposedly, that has been addressed with the cycles now being produced.  That has been mentioned on ST and confirmed by my LBS - for what that's worth.

  • Digging up a near year old post of mine...

I just purchased the Cycleops 300 Pro because I was able to get it for 20% off from Trisports.com and they do not carry the 400 Pro. Hopefully, I'll have it soon. Already ordered an ISM Adamo seat, Look Keo pedals and the aerobars.  I'll get it fitted to mimic my current bike fit. Comes with the Joule 3.0. I'll give a full hands on report as soon as I've had time to work with it.

  • Bob - I bought the Cyclops Powerbeam Pro in August since I have 2 race bikes and only switch them on the trainer depending on which I need for the next A race. Like you, I like the convenience. In fact, I have a dedicated trainer wheel/trainer tire that I use when I put a bike on the machine so I don't feel like I'm putting wear and tear on my bike. See my post on "I know my Power now and I suck" for my experience on the machine. I have the Joule 3 as well.
  • I finally rec'd it yesterday. Assembling it was pretty simple. Infinite amount of adjustability and I did a decent job of setting it up. I'm still waiting for the aero bars, so I'll have some more adjusting to do.

First ride of 75 minutes went pretty well. Did today's prescribed OS workout. NP of 231W @ .821 IF.
