Lemond Revolution Trainer

Does anybody have one of these new trainers?  I tried one at the IMAZ expo and I loved the feel but was a little disappointed in the noise.  My cyclops fluid trainer is quieter and I would still prefer one that makes no noise ... especially if I'm just soft pedalling and trying to listen to the TV.  If anyone has one, please let me know how you felt about it after a few months and how the noise sounds inside the home (vs outside in an expo booth).   Thanks.

  • @ Scott - Thank you. That review answered the mail...see below. I.e., while the feel is great, this trainer is not ready for prime time. I would buy it if they could shut it up, elsewise my wife would kill me with this thing!

Unfortunately, the combination of that giant fan, multiple bearings, and a resonant cast aluminum main mast produce an inordinate amount of noise to the point where watching television is wholly impossible without the benefit of noise-isolating or noise-cancelling headphones. Users in shared dwellings will want to make sure everyone else is gone and conversations with training partners sitting just inches away require you to yell.

Whether you describe it as a vacuum cleaner, a jet engine, a heavy metal concert, whatever – it's loud with a capital 'L' and despite the long list of benefits to the Lemond Revolution, potential buyers will have to keep that in mind before plunking down the credit card.
  • I sold my Blackburn Trakstand Ultra on Ebay & bought a Lemond Revolution this Winter.  It IS loud up in Z3-Z4, but feels like being on the road.  There's no need to adjust the tension like a roller and I don't have billions of little pieces of rubber from my trainer tire all over my pain cave.  I used some milk crates and old blankets to surround the noisy side of the trainer.  This absorbs a lot of the sound.

  • I'm going to hold out for an updated model with a muffler!
