How to know I am serious about doing IMAZ

How do you know I am serious about doing IMAZ next year. Well I promised myself that I would start the Jan OS at the weight I race at all this year ( and had a pretty good year). Then I would try to lose the weight of my bike between Jan and race day, I will weight my bike with all my race stuff on it when I start the OS and then try to lose that amount.

Well how do you know I am serious, I will give 2 examples from today. My daughter and her friends where making Hot Dogs and I said no I am all set  then I had a big bottle of Homemade beer a friend had given me and all day I kept looking at it saying hmmm maybe I will have a glass or two tonight, I then promptly poored it downed the sink so it will not be calling to me tonight.

So for me to say no to Hot Dogs and Beer you know that I am serious.

  • Damn Serious! It's a long ways to Arizona but the payoff will be sweet. So just hold that thought.
  • Seriously impressive!

  • Practically fell off my chair reading that!

  • Impressive.

They played a song at the start of IMAZ this year (I was volunteering) and I am using it now as an anchor and it may pertain to this.  The song goes like this . . ."It's a long way to the top, if you wanna rock-n-roll."    AC/DC.

Rock on, brotha.  See ya in the OS and IMAZ '11!

  • @John that is my theme song for several years now.

I know its a long way, I don't expect perfection just consistency.

  • Awesome Mr Ford!! I think you are so smart to start now. Making this into a habit takes time and the payoffs are immense. Being an athlete is so much more than our workouts. It is what we consume and how we recover. Keep telling yourself: " I am eating like an olympic athlete". So excited for you.
  • You've completely lost perspective. Seek help. image

Carrie said it- recovery and consumption. OS is a great time to get a jump on weight loss or at least begin the measurement, believing that what gets measured gets managed.
And you're right. It's not about perfection, it's about improvement.

    Good luck!

    (But down the drain? Harsh.)
  • Who the hell are you and what have you done with Officer Ford!!?! Give him back to us right now!
  • Whoaa.....I can maybe understand the hot dog, but the beer??? I think you should just train that much longer, burning off some more calories to make room for the brewski...
But do commend the commitment....I just hope the mental state doesn't go too much further or could end up like this....image
  • That is the worst story i have heard in a while. Hot dogs should never be eaten by anyone ever but feel free to send any unloved beer to me.
  • I read a story once about a guy who claimed to need to run 12 miles a day..... just so he could eat a pint of Ben 'n Jerry's ice cream.....

In a previous life - no beer would ever have gone down the drain ... unless it had been in my stomach first!

Thats the problem, the beer was very well loved. But you know the saying if you love something set it free if it comes back well...

He's not a WSM for nothing.  I can't believe you poured out the beer.  That's abuse.

I knew Tucker was going to have harsh words about the beer disposal.

  • What will power!!! But isn't pouring beer down a drain a felony or something?  If not there aught to be a law!

  • Steve, I've got some GOOOOOOOOD stuff to send you (insert evil laugh here), what's your address?

Scott you can give it to me at IMAZ, I will be waiting for you at the finish line

Steve, next time this comes up please know that, for a fellow teammate, I'm willing to provide a happy, and loving home for beer.

  • I think we need to create a Home For Unloved Beers... image

I think we need to create a Home For Unloved Beers...

Is that like the Island for misfit toys, ala Rudolph?

I suggest this home should be in either St. Louis or Milwaukee or Golden, CO, otherwise known as the homes of Bud, Miller and Coors.

  • St. Louis or Milwaukee and Golden, CO (the American homes, as I believe they're all owned by multinational conglomerates) are ALREADY the home for misfit beers - I call them weak domestics!

I'm a microbrew guy, and while some of those towns might have some good ones, their larger mass-produced brethren have brought their niche-ness down a few levels.

  • @Scott, so what is this "good stuff" you were talking to the felon who dumps beer out? Your own brew?
  • @Tucker, anything and everything deep-fried that TX has to offer, I was going to get to Officer Ford for his IMAZ training. Just to "help" him out with his nutrition.
