Membership Limit?

I searched the forums a bit and couldn't find the answer....is there a limit to the total Membership level, or other prinicples for how it's managed?

  • Jeremy, really appreciate how much thought you are putting into becoming a member....hope you are getting good feedback across the board. The Team basically works in two cycles: Training Season (Winter/Spring) & Racing Season (Summer/Fall). During Training Season we as a Team actively recruit new members, as there is attrition from the year before and general churn. Once Spring comes, we close the Team down to focus on our current members as they prepare to race.

It syncs well since RnI are on the road for the better part of March through November as well. This system has served us well for four years and there will likely be no change moving forward. While it might seem like we are adding a ton of new members, we don't actually advertise all the cancels or trials who don't convert. As an example we've added 9 members in December, but 11 folks have canceled as well. Every month is a huge learning experience for us, but know that we are committed to delivering a one-of-a-kind, high-quality experience for all of our members. If you'd like more feedback on that, you can ask them directly. Thanks!
  • Thanks Patrick.

Only one outstanding question so far.  I understand the power based training approach and have used it in an un-disciplined manner on and off.  My question is 2 parts:

1-  A lot of my bike training is done on a spinner as I'm tyipcally doing them @ 5:30 before work.  If i have a PT but can only use it for 1 ride a week, will this inconsistency limit the benefit?

2 - I have a set of race wheels I used this season (Zipp Disc and 1080 front) that does not have PT.  During races this year I didn't use a HRM or anything and simply tried to listen to my body to determine how hard I should push.  I did this with fairly good success.  If I use a power based training approach but don't use anything during a race am I limiting the benefit or creating risk?

    1. Yes, it will limit the benefit of training with power but it's better than nothing and it is what it is.
    2. I would strongly, strongly recommend you sell that rear wheel and use the $ to finance the purchase of a powermeter.  Racing with power is practically cheating and there is no better place than EN to learn how to train and race with power.
  • Jeremy, it's very common among members to have an inexpensive disc cover (<$100) for the rear wheel if you are using a PT for racing. Very close to disk performance and of course you get your PT. I personally just think of it as part of the price of the PT...kind of like you have to have a rim. :-) But of course, you don't have to have it until close to the race so you can put that part of the purchase off for a while if that helps.
