Fidget while you work
So, this is my latest crazy scheme to help me reach my body comp goals. I was inspired by Nemo and the folks who have converted to the standing or treadmill desks. I can't convert my workspace to that extent, but what I have done is bought a mini magnetic exercise bike that fits under my desk and isn't even visible to anyone in the office. (Picture attached.) It is an Isokinetics Magnetic Pedal Exerciser. It makes no noise. I was afraid there wouldn't be enough knee room to pedal it under my desk, and that has turned out to be the case. Perhaps other models would work better. However I can still use kinda like a stair stepper pushing the pedals back and forth. It is basically a structured deliberate way to encourage fidgeting while I work. I estimate that this activity is about the equivalent of a slow stroll. That only burns about 140 calories an hour, but if you do that most of your day, that really adds up. I will let you know how this experiement works!

10+ deep squats to warm the quads
10+ plyo lunges
10+ fast pushups
this will elevate your metabolism and burn calories as you sit.
Any WSM's care to weigh in on the merit or lack there of for this kind of metabolism bumping?
@Beverly, I love the idea, didn't see the pic, though. I've thought about an exercise ball chair for my core/low back. And I am a total fidgeter so this would be great!
sorry to hear you don't have a door - I've become a master of the in-office, 30 minute, total body routine which involves lunges, push ups, etc... all I need is a towel, a band, a desk chair (pushed up against the wall - for hammies and tris). I log in to pandora for some music and I'm good to go with winter resistance training during lunch. LoL
I have been standing at my desk for 2-3 years now. Literally just put cardboard boxes under my keyboard and monitor. Most office mates think I am an odd odd duck for doing so, however has more or less eliminated leg pain caused from stiffness from my life
For fidgeting I dance, not literally but since I have headphones on all day listening to music many times people will walk by and see me rocking out. We are moving offices in January and somehow I ended up in the far far far corner where people can't accidently walk by... Can't imagine why
