  • Thanks, Brian. Brings back memories of 05/6. The juice for me was the last 5-6 miles, powering past what seemed like a gazilllion people, and being the excuse for all those BU kids to just get drunk and crazy.
  • @Brian, this is killer stuff for the Boston Newbies...thanks!!!
  • Thanks. Everyone has different ideas, but this is what worked for me. When I get around to part 6 it will include some pictures and afterthoughts.
  • Brian,
Thanks for the great summary. I ran Boston 2010 too and you describe the day very well. Like Al, it brought back good memories for me too. I started out conservatively since I was just getting over a bad cold from the week before the race (nothing like still hacking up green stuff 6 days before running a marathon), but found my groove and was able to run a negative split by about :30. Miles 21-24 after Heartbreak Hill were my three fastest mile, perhaps bc my brother, JT Thompson (also an EN member) met me at mile 20 and ran in with me. It was really cool having an "escort", especially since he called me a sissy at least 3-4 times for not running faster. What are brothers for? Finally, I love all the pre-race tips you outline - very helpful to anyone running Boston.
    Thanks again.
    Bruce
