FTP in PowerAgent not jiving with Normalized Power numbers

Not sure if anyone can help me, but I did my week 8 FTP test this Tuesday. For the 42 min section my Normalized power went up from 162 to 171, but here is the question.  When I went into poweragent to record the new Power at 4min (191) and 30min (172)  it gives me a FTP of 167 (I try to record the 171 but it will not let me), so when I download my workouts into the Poweragent  it gives me a TSS score that is based on the 167 not the 171. Any ideas on how I can get my Poweragent to not do this or did I misunderstand what it was that I was suppose to record?

  • Well that's confusing and annoying! Seems Power Agent is "forcing" you to use a specific means of establishing FTP, which isn't a 2x20. So you can't use the 4min and 30min power numbers from the 2x20 to get the FTP to generate in Power Agent. I think you basically have to "fudge" the 4min and 30min numbers so that it will generate the FTP you know you got based on your NP from the 2x20 test.

I played around with it and got it to show FTP=171 with 4min=250 and 30min=187
  •  @brenda download the new version of power agent and you'll be able to enter FTP directly.

  • Thanks Hayes. Done and did. I have a ride tomorrow so I will see what comes of it.
