When I swap Quarq from bike to bike, do I need a new chain?
The Quarq is coming. will be using it on my road bike for much of the next 5 months, when I'll try a challenging century that finishes up Brasstown Bald. But, I may do a local 12mi TT in Feb, requiring me to move it to the tri-bike.
I was wondering if I'm gonna need a new chain every time I switch it around. If I do, so be it. But, can a SRAM, Wipperman, (Shimano?) chain with these power links be reused (on/off/on) a few times in the year or is it a 'one&done' thing?
note: I use shimano stuff, if that matters in this case.
Thx,
Chris

Don't have a quarq, but I'm going to say "no", unless you are also changing chainring sizes (ie. standard to compact or vise versa)
I had all shimano but got a sram crank on the quarq and didn't swap a thing.
But I'm not the greatest bike wrench in the world either. wait until someone who has a real clue adds their thoughts.
However, remember chains are a wearable/breakable item and if you haven't replaced it in a while it may make sense to put a new one one. My race bke gets a new chain and cables every year as I don't want to risk a mechical because of poor maintenance.
Also, SRAM and Shimano 10 speed chains, cassettes, chainrings and cranks are all compatible with each other so mix and match away. It is only the rear derailer and rear shifter that have to match due to differnet indexing (i.e. the amount of cable pulled per shift)
