Performance Art - Winter Run Challenge style
Hi everyone,
To cap off this year's Winter Run Challenge, I thought I would have a bit of fun with the mileage. And I would like you to join me! The good news is that you can do it from the comfort of your own home - it is New Years morning after all!!
On Saturday morning I'll post of details of where you can watch the "show". I'll also throw up some #workworks tweets as the morning prgresses.
So check back here some time after 7am PST to get the web address, and check the address every once in a while until 11am or so. And yeah, I realize long distance running isn't much of a spectator sport - but it's all about the art.

Happy New Years everyone!
The Winter Run Challenge weather gods have smiled on me so far, but it looks like this morning they may take their vengance - it's low 40's and rain, but my clear up later.
We've all heard of "sky writing", well, today I'm going to try some "road writing". As the morning goes on you can check my progress at:
mikehedman.com/gps
Before I get going at 7am, the page will be showing a test track from a couple of days ago. The screen doesn't auto refresh, so you will have to refresh your browser periodically to see new sections (probably just hit the F5 key on your keyboard). I've set the markers to drop every 2 minutes.
Thanks for joining in the fun,
Mike
Go Mike!!
Gives a completely new meaning to the suffering Tri-Artiste!
Happy New Year
John
Hi,
I'm back home. There was a slight technical difficulty once there were more than 100 track points - I've fixed that now.
Thanks for the kind words. And yes, the weather did cooperate!! It sprinkled for about the first 45 minutes or so, but that was about it. The mileage numbers ended up just a little over 23 miles, and then I turned off the tracker, and ran a bit more to my pick up point.
More later, but now it's streching time .
Mike
That is cool Mike! Like i said the other day- you are my ultra hero
Neil
Height of the "E": 4.5 miles!
Total track length: 23.2 miles.
Duration of run: 3:43.
When I got to the end of the N I realized I needed to run back to the start of the E, where my car was. I punched it into Google Maps on my iPhone...6.8 miles. Uhhhhh, NO. I called my wife and she graciously retrieved me. But I realized that I was only 15 minutes and 1.8 miles away from some good clean numbers for the Run Challenge, so I ran towards home until I hit 4 hours and 25 miles, and about 2 minutes later my wife pulled up - nice!
Ok, and true confessions time...at about mile 17 there was a bike sitting alone on the sidewalk...and I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about it
Mike
I saw Neil's comment so I had to go look for myself - totally awesome!
Hey, I know I would have thought about the lone bike too..... but in the end figure it wasnt mine when I woke up, so it can't be mine now..... Great run Mike!
The next time I run that track will be pushed off my GPS page, I I thought I better grab a screenshot before it vaporizes:
And a correction to an earlier post - since it was only showing 100 points, I'm throwing out every other point, which means these points are four minutes apart, not two.
