Any non-US members? What do you get out of EN?

Hey from England!

As a non-US member, I am ust wondering what I would get out of EN other than the forum type stuff? I'm guessing there's not much on British races such as the database on US races? (Apologies, haven't actaully had a look yet).

Never gonna get to meet the coaches.....

I'm currently 50/50, defintely want a plan, just unsure as a foreign member what I'd get out of paying/month. Or on the flip side, is EN looking to embrace the 'foreign culture' and expand that way?!

  • We are slowly growing internationally, and have a few folks who race out there for sure. I think we'll have more INT folks in the 2012 season, but in the meantime ask around and check out the Member Map (under Community) to find other folks.
  • Hi from Canada!

Obviously we have a better opportunity to run the US races, but both my husband and i are members, and are only doing cdn HIMs this season - as far as we know we are the only ones doing Calgary 70.3.

For me, the plan and the group support is the main benefit of the program - information about races has always been secondary. Lots of advice in your OS group.

There are a number of people in GB and some on the continent. you can find them on the members map.

I also follow a number of members on Twitter and this further supports the EN community.

Like anything, you get out what you put in.

hope to see you around Charlie!

    Cheers

  • I think there are at least 6 EN members doing IM Regensburg this year. So if you are heading over to Germany this summer the team will be well represented.
  • The first 2 years in EN there was a member from England. He and I trained virtually together in Nov Off season group. Our paces were the same so we felt like we were literally training together. He ended up having a layover in California and we met him at the airport. He has been back 3 times and visits me and my family. He has raced in the US also and met lots of other members. If not for EN we would have never met. It is a very cool forum. Real friendships are made.
  • Hi from Singapore Charlie!

Geographically speaking I am probably one of the furthest from the US, that being said I have gotten so much out of my membership since I joined the Oct OS in 2010 that I would have to say definitely worth joining. The OS group is great as you are doing the same plan at the same time with others, great to compare results, ask questions and get feedback, share a story from a hard work-out etc. The online support here is just fantastic so if you don't mind the "inter-web" version of contact then EN rocks. The forums here are great, you get great answers you can trust and use without the ST ego .  Also so so much info in the Wiki's - am still working my way through all that.

The weekly videos with coach RnP are great too - nice to put a face and personality to the screen name and makes you feel more in touch. Also is a good prep for starting the week on what to focus on etc.

It seems quite a few EN'ers race outside the US as well - Adam will be here in Singapore for the 70.3 in March so have traded messages with him and will catch up when he is here. As mentioned above there are a group heading over for IM Regensburg as well so will get to meet some EN'ers then.

So although has been only 3 months since I joined so far I can say has definitely been worth it. Will see at the seasons end but with the season planning guidance and the ongoing feedback and direction from Coach RnP I think it's going to be a great year.

    Cheers

    Kevin
