Get it off your chest
Hey all just wanted to post this....Week 9 done and one more week and we are half way done. I can see where peeps start to drop out or get injured during this period. Myself this past week thrashed the H E double l out of me. Noticed today I had some right patellar tenderness. Something I have never had. Actually hurts to touch. My foam roller and me had a few dates today and a few more to come. I am actually taking 800 mg of Ibuprofen every 6 hours for the next 48 hours to see if I can calm the fire down. Also soaking in the tub in some damn cold water. Tried the ice bath but just couldn't handle it. I am really trying to hold steady to my zones d/t the fact I see how the week accumulates now and next thing you know it's in your face screaming.
Also noticed by new back tire is cracked and appears to want to blow at anytime. Can't wait but I want it to be when I am burning some rubber......just think that would be damn funny.......
Well I for sure will buckle down and get through these next 10 weeks. I see week 10 is kind of a mother...........Saturday looks to be a blast.
Just wanted to throw this out there......Now get back to work...........

Hate to take people away from self treatment, but my reaction is almost always (after a brief self-treatment bout) to recommend going to a physician or PT who specializes in athletes. You hate to go see the guy who says "stop running" every time he hears, "Doc, when I run, it hurts." But every injury (and I've been pretty lucky) I've had has turned around only after I got good quality outside help. So that's my bias. :-)
Anyway, I can't help but laugh about your tire. I'd probably do the same!

Bummer, I know we talked via txt, from your experience working in as an orthopedic nurse I'm sure you know who is good as far as orthopedics go. For sports docs I definitely recommend stadia sports medicine, Dr. Chad Carlson. For a PT I recommend Dave Freesman of Rock Valley PT.
This week was a hard week, though. Perfect timing for my transition to my 50k training! (I know, I'm totally copping out....ha ha). I do hope the knee gets better...definitely see to it though. And if you need to stand down, please do...sometimes that makes all he difference.
Happy new year!
I havent' done that to myself...but I thoroughly thrashed myself last week. I did all the weekly workouts...but maybe a bit too hard. Tuesday bike was pretty easy. Then I did my treadmill run on Wednesday but between that Garmin Footpod and treadmill pace suspect I was running a pace that was about 10s too fast. And since I did them by time, not distance, I went a little longer than I should have. On Thursday I was tired but did the bike workout a bit harder. Instead of 4x2.4 I did 1x5 max effort and then 2x2.5 I was trying to see what my 20min vs 5 min ratio would be. It was one hell of a workout.
Friday I decided to do a 5k race with some friends. I was wasted for the race. Ran it 2 min slower than I did my test the previous week. I took Saturday off since I had skipped my day off. Sunday I tried to do saturdays ride and wasn't able to hang in there. I got the first 1x18 in at 95% (barely holding on). But the 2nd one finished me off. I tried to break it up into 2 chunks and still couldn't maintain. I tried to do the 2x2.5's and couldn't get the power up there.
At that point I gave up and did the run which went fine.
One of those really good examples of doing too much and then not being able to complete future workouts as a result.
You may want to post to the Medical Help Forum as well. Hope it heals quickly!
I hope that it gets addressed quickly.
sucks about the knee. As has been mentioned you better stay on top of that. I feel pretty good but the only reason is that I have not done much biking at all since the middle of December. Those 2.5 are gonna be a blast in the am. Time to get back in the game.
Intervals today on the treadmill....
