"Power Meter"
I've been training on a Kurt Kinetic "Rock & Roll" trainer and just purchased their computer which measures watts (Power, Max Power and Avg Power) but doesn't have any more data than that, and is not downloadable to WKO+.
I have been using HR to train so far... Question is, should I re-test using this new computer and use watts to measure going forward, and will this new toy not provide the info needed to train with watts?

I would make the switch. You can use average power instead of NP for the 42' test. Very workable and will only net a small difference between AP and NP. I would give the new toy a few rides before testing so I know I can easily get the 42' average. I wouldn't want to lose that number and have to retest.
From there, you can just make sure you're staying in the power zones, you will not have any post ride data to look at but I think its still a step up from HR training. You can certainly track improvement over time.
