It wasn't the flu
So I wake up yesterday feeling crummy which is drag because a week earlier on Christmas day I have a raging case of strep throat. Great I have the flu just my luck. As the day progress I continue to feel worse and the pain doesn't subside (it increases) and it's localized to the right side of my adomen. I'm sure by now the 400 doctors on EN have diagnosed me.
It's now 5pm and I'm in the ER. My vitals are checked as I'm checked in. 104 heart rate? oh oh. By now the ER docs has dignosed it to be my appendix. IV, morphine, then CT scan I'm told that it is. "So when do you think they'll get me in for
surgery?" I ask. "30 minutes". So I'm wisked away and just like that it's over. Appedix out. While I'm sore I feel sooo much better. They tell me it was super infected and are happy I caught it early. Quite a day.
I'm glad I didn't wait until morning to see if I felt better.
Happy New Year

Dan,
Make sure you lube the incision with plenty of Soigneur.
Glad you're ok.

Well, I'm sure happy you didn't wait. Ruptured appy's buy you at least a night in the hospital on i.v. Antibiotics. Sending healing vibes so you can heal up quickly!
Feel better soon Dan! Glad you didn't wait and they whisked you away quickly!
Sucks to have emergency surgery but waaaaay better than crashing; no more crashing this year!
I'm glad you're on the mend.
Dan - Welcome to the recovery room, buddy.
I'll never forget ... in 1960, America's top freestyler, Jeff Ferrell, swam on the gold winning 4 x 100 m relay in Rome Olympics 6 days after his appy. You gonna top that?
On second thought, follow your Dr's advice about return to action.
Hey, good luck on the quick and efficient comeback!
Seriously- glad you got it taken care of quickly. Both my sister's had theirs out in their early 20's. I keep waiting for that time bomb to go off myself.
Sounds like it practically smokin' when they took it out! So glad that's behind you. Rest up to chew up the rest of the year!
Thanks all. Looking forward to recovering and properly starting my season. I think I've reached my sickness quota for the year and I got my crash out of the way. 2011 is looking awesome. I have a new job so my stress level has dropped significantly.
All signs for a comeback year.
Wow, what a way to start the year Dan! Take it easy!
Al - I swam with Jeff Ferrell on Santa Barbara masters about 10 yrs ago - he was still fast as hell in the 50 - it was incredible, setting masters records. I believe he was in his 60s. I knew he had been in the Olympics but I didn't know about the appy - even more impressive
Glad all is well. Now get back to being the coolest guy on the planet.
