Calling all X-country skiers! Birkebeiner anyone?
Just checking to see who else is planning to do the Birke this year. Last year was my first year skiing. I did the City of Lakes Loppet, and Josh Choate and I were planning to do the Birke. Unfortunately, I had a death in the family and couldn't do the race. I'm signed up for both of those again this year. Thinking about trying to do the 58K Mora Vasoloppet as a way to wave up at the Birke, but not sure about that.
Anyone else skiing. Would love to hear how folks are working it into the OS. My general strategy is to do OS workouts in the mornings. I try to ski at least 1 weeknight for ~1 hour, and I cut out of work early every Friday and ski for 2-2.5 hours, then I try to get in at least a couple of hours on the weekend in between shuttling kids to hockey.
So far the snow in Minnesota has been spectacular, and there are no signs of the cold abating any time soon, so looking like a great year to be on skis.

this ones on my list though. someday. usually when we have snow I can get to local trails everyday so will be cool to see how you guys fit it all together.
One of my someday dreams! I xc skiied when I was a teen in good Ole International Falls...tons of places to skii there and yeah cold enought to skii for months and months Sold my skiis a while back, they were ancient. Went skiing again for the first time in a long time recently @ Elm Creek Park Reserve. Just classic, skating is another someday goal. When time and finances allow, gonna get back into! Thanks for the inspiration!
