Fatigue Profiling

need to do this or not?

Our Data Tool gives us the zones.   I'm thinking I may do the testing for the Power Profile.  Not sure about the Fatigue Profile.  Do you have any experience with this?

Or, should I just focus on getting my FTP, going with our schedule, and wait til I have some unscheduled weeks to do things like the Power Profile or Fatigue Profile?  Unscheduled weeks meaning that time in between this year's plans , or maybe in the pre-OS for next year.

  • Seems to me that Fatigue Profiling is most useful if you're determining what kind of rider you want to be and where your strengths are.

If you're already committed to doing HIM and/or IM racing this year, it's not clear to me how you would change your training based on learning what you would with fatigue profiling. (Not to be crass about it, but who cares how fast you fatigue at 200% of your FTP, for example, if you're training for ironman?) Ultimately, if knowing the answer wouldn't change anything that you intend to do, then you have to consider whether it's worth taking the time and effort to measure it.

So, for me, it's one of those things that would be fun to know if I had infinite time, energy, and recovery, etc. But I don't, so I don't. :-)
  • You may wish to check out RestWise for monitoring recovery & fatigue.

  • Ask around here before starting things up with Restwise. A few of us tried it last year, and had pretty variable experiences.
  • @William - good point. I dig that logic cuz I certainly don't want to waste goal specific training time.

@David (and @Mike) - You guys got me curious, but I doubt I have time to frequent more websites. Fatigue Profiling was one of the protocols in Training and Racing With A Power Meter, finds 'more' of your strengths and weaknesses. Wasn't sure if it was something I needed to do. Thx, tho.
