Flashing transimission icon on LYC

During today's workout I noticed the transmission icon on the upper left corner of LYC was flashing. I think this means that the hub batteries are going, correct? How long do I have? Any tips/advice on replacing them? This will be a first for me.

I Believe you are correct. I think you have some hours left on it and changing them is a snap as long as you have the custom plastic "wrench" they provide, its like a Dr. Suess tool that fits on the hub. Be careful pulling the battery unit out as the pieces seem very delicate and make sure you take note what position they are in when you take the old ones out so that you know what position to put the new ones in. http://www.saris.com/pdfManuals/308.pdf

I noticed mine flashing at Wisconsin training camp in July. I rode the entire long weekend without problem. Changed batteries after bike arrived home. No problem. I second the being careful part.

Wow, really glad you fired up this thread. Mine has been blinking forever, I was just planning to change the LYC battery. I'd forgotten that it is a trigger for the hub battery.

I updated my hub to ANT+ over the holidays. It was a little work to get the hub cap off. I tried a strap wrench, but in the end the hub tool worked the best. Take note of how tight the hub is before you take it off, so you get it exactly back in place. You don't want water in there. Also I think that silver oxide replacement batteries are recommended, not alkaline. My package says Energizer 357/303 1.55V Silver Oxide, Replaces All: EPX76, SR44SW, SR44W.

Thanks for the info everyone. Unfortunately I don't have the official wrench to get the hub off. Will give it a shot without it.
