Help with manual workout entry to WKO

My Garmin 405 failed to acquire a signal for my brick this afternoon. I timed the run and did it over a course I know precisely, so no issues calculating average pace. No lap data but such is life.

I created a "manual activity" in Garmin Connect but upon exporting the TCX file found out that WKO will not import it.

Tried "manual workout entry" in WKO but a few problems:

1. Duration takes whole minutes only

2. Requires you enter a TSS and IF (how do I calculate that manually?)

3. Requires average speed (what units to use?)

Any guidance on the best way to get this into WKO?

Cheers,

Matt

  • When that happens to me, I take the easy route. I look at previous workouts that are of the same duration and effort. I then use the TSS numbers from those efforts for my current workout and don’t worry about the rest.

And while this is not the most technically precise method, it does allow me to capture TSS numbers and get on with my day.
  • N=2 for scavenging from previous workouts.
  • Hmmmm, considering I started up with the "hard core analytics" only last week, I don't really have anything to scavenge. Perhaps I wait until I have a few more runs in the books and hence some feedstock for scavenging.
  • You can enter just time and speed (mph) or time and distance (miles) in WKO and it will figure out the rTSS/IF after you save it.

For example this morning on the treadmill I did 3', 6', and 9' @ TP + 2' of work during some strides at that pace = 20' total. The rest of the time I was at EP = 40' as I did 1 hour total.

I did two manual entries in this in WKO, 20' at 10.2 mph, and 40' at 8.2 mph. WKO calculated the pave, rTSS, IF and everything else based off of this.
  • Thanks Matt, it worked!
(somewhat strange the workout duration can only be in whole numbers of minutes, though)
