Week 11 Day Off!!!!!

Dog walked and fed -- check, Jane almost ready to head off to work -- check, kids' lunches packed for school -- check, Eleanor carpooling to swim team with another parent -- check, house stocked with groceries -- check, laundry done -- check. Oh my, nothing to do today but relax and putter around the house in a daze.

Time for some quality-face-down-in-the-sofa-time.

Snooze on!

  • I am in Memphis and our winter storm is keeping me in today, for some well-deserved recovery. I DO have the responsibility of keeping my 2.5 year old daughter, but, that will be fun anyways.

    Me too Elly!
  • I am working, we have a policy for mandatory workouts so I might end up doing the Wednesday run today....we'll see.
  • First day of class here. Lots of administrivia. Hopefully a bit of time for the lunchtime desk self leg massage. :-)
  • Snowed (iced) in here in the northern burbs of ATL. (I knew I should've gotten the 4wd on that Tacoma.) Great day to have a rest day since I felt horrible on that run last nite.

Gonna use the day to get organized with my tri crap. Where to keep all of the widgets and gadgets and manuals and ibuprofens and usb cables and .....

Should have time to watch alot of the Power Webinar, too. Cool Beans.

Will probably hit the snow with the kids and dogs in a little bit. It's rare that we get 5' of good fluffy snow.
  • Well last night the flu bug decided it would like to say "hello" to me. Abd cramps, fever, and aches everywhere.  I usually swim on Mondays but RELAXING. Feeling a little better now so really hoping this is like one of those 24 hour influenza viruses. Had to call in sick to the fire department so they know I am about dead.

Winter storm also slamming IOWA. So far the Des Moines/Altoona area's are not to bad.

Be safe all and enjoy............did I hear a massage........

  • Definitely appreciative of the rest day. I had a decent yesterday evening but was very beat when it was all said and done. Got home and had that collapse into bed feeling that I have not had since back in actual on-season race prep. In a slightly masochistic way, it feels good to be a solidly back down in -TSB territory. Definitely needed more sleep to recoup though, hopefully won't be stuck at work too late.

  • the fire department so they know I am about dead.

we weren't saying that about you as far as you know, it was more of a "I hope that slug Carl gets back to work".
  • Got 9 hours of sleep last night! Late to work though.... None of my colleagues workout, and they just don't have any sympathy when I say I'm tired because I only got 7 hours of sleep! I find I only need 7 after an off day, but after hard workouts, bring on 9-10! Gonna spend this evening cooking up good food for the week. Attending master's swim class after work just for the social mojo.
  • I love my days off.  Saturday was hard.  I literally fell face-first in the door after the run.  Yesterday's run was doable, but I feel like I have very little in the tank right now, so the rest day is coming at a perfect time.

  • Day off? What's that?

    I do:
M/W: Bike workouts after work. 100 push-up challenge or p90x.
T/Th: Run workouts at lunch, adding in swimming at night this week. Ab/core work.
    F: Off, maybe. 100 push-up challenge or p90x.
    Sa: Bike
Su: Run, possibly with another swim

    • The sad thing is I have a Kelly Day on Thursday.....that is sad....so back to work on Sunday

  •  Loving my day off....so tired right now...hope I can come out of it for Tuesday's Bike!!!!

  • Checking in on this day off from sunny St Thomas. Miss all you guys and miss being in my pain cave. Not to worry, workout will be completed tomorrow.
  • Even though I'm enjoying the day off, I'm thinking of moving the Tues bike workout to tonight as I'm hearing about snow on Wednesday. I like the snow, but the road clearing around here isn't very good, which means running in the middle of the road and dodging cars. If I bike tonight I can run tomorrow.
  • I'm using Monday to swim easy to help recovery. Just doing 1500 meters with 100 swim and 100 kick and working on technique and keeping the "feel" of the water.  Good mental break and a chance to socialize out of the pain cave.

Also a chance to explain to others about the EN program and how I've been hammering away in that Pain Cave during the wee hours!

  • Slept 8 hours last night and needed it. I was actually going to go to masters tonight but got held up at work. Hayes is probably there right now cursing me.

  • Day off #2!!!! My legs are coming back to me. This week the fatigue doesn't seem so bad. Today's order of business: rest and stretch.

  • used mine up yesterday, actually hit the pool for a little bit. 24 hr shift at work moved the Thurs Bike to today.
  • Wish I had mine today; had to get in my Sunday run while I had daycare, so no joy. 13.3 very long tough miles after 3 x hard days...
