CDA trip in mid April?
I am doing CDA this year as my first IM. I may have an opportunity to go there mid April. Is it worth the trouble in April to take the bike? Would I be better served by just waiting for race week? Thoughts? Thanks!

Mid April in CDA, while it came be a tad brisk, will provide clean, clear roads and other triathletes riding and running on the IM course.
And of course each year is an experiment of one. Last year I worked up a decent sweat while riding the course in March in a short sleeved bike jersey.
I have yet to see an April in CDA where the roads are unrideable.
Its going to be cold, but hopefully no ice. Dont count on swimming, thats for sure. I'll be there also for my race rehearsals. This spring.
CDA was my first IM in 2007 and I went out there in April to preview the course. I thought it was totally worth it to ride the course because it helped ease my mind a little. That being said, you could always rent a bike also. There's a good bike store in town that I totally forgot the name of. While it will be too cold to swim, you should be good to run and bike.
Have fun! It's a great race with wonderful local support.

my brother and i will be there for race rehearsal #1, may13-16th.
we plan on riding the run course and driving the bike course on saturday. sunday we'll do the bike race rehearsal.
if others are there on that weekend, a sponsored team dinner would be nice. of course, follow your own plan for the weekend as you see fit.
My brother and i are staying at the same hotel (la quinta) that we will be at for the race, so even that is a rehearsal for us. others are welcome to stay with us and split the cost of the room by however many people end up in there. we are tranquil types, so no parties.
otherwise, we'll see you all on race week!
