OS Week 11 vs Week 10 sat ride

Week 11 shows 2x14 zone 4  then 2 (2.5x2.5)  zone 5 and zone 1  then  2x15 zone 3

Week 10     was   2x20 zone 4 then  4 (2.5x2.5) zone 5 and zone 1 then 2x15 zone 3

Was week 10 a misprint?  It seemed like a bit much .  It almost killed me .  I only got halfway thru the 3rd Z5 interval and complety fell apart.   After those 2x20 zone 4's the z5's were unreal.  I couldnt even get hear rate reasonable again during the zone 3 intervals and only completed one of those.  Week 11 now looks like a piece of cake!

  • Nov OS group asked about that in week 10 and the answer was "yes, it is correct, stop whining and do the work". We tried it, fell apart for the most part just like you, we cried about it, got no sympathy. Then we came back and crushed the Week 11. It wasn't easy, but it was a releif to Week 10. Enjoy it!

    Tim,

This will be a very hard workout as you are only two weeks from the week 8 test.  You will start to see more and more of the long FTP intervals including a few more 2X20's.  The bonus is that you get 4' rest inbetween so not a pure FTP test but almost as hard.

Also remember that you can do 95-100 so if you are feeling tired or need to utilize the 95% to get all the work in.  One other tip ensure that you are using the 4' rest to go really easy if you are suffering, don't worry about the overall IF of the ride.

Below is a post that I sent to someone the first link is key when you are having a bad day and what you should do.:

Yes a bad day can happen especially as we move further in to the OS.

Sorry about the links you will have to cut and paste the whole thing in.

  • @ Tim - I had to smile when I read your post.... that had to be the toughest workout I have ever done..... but I did live to tell about it... There were a lot of peeps grumbling after that....
  • OK OK so it was real. I didnt question it until I saw week 11 being relatively easy. 10 weeks of hard bike workouts but that was the first one I blew up on, so was just wondering! Looking forward to the rest of them!

    Thanks all
  • Note that week 11 also had a 2X2 75 minute run on Sunday................. that hurt.

I think we got a small reprieve on Sat for the extra load on Sunday.................

  • Whew!! We ran another batch of EN'ers through that Workout of Death without actually killing anyone! (RnP bicoastal fistbump )

  • So is the infamous week 10 Workout of Death only on the intermediate / advanced plan? I'm in the beginner Dec OS plan and my week 10, although difficulting looking, is not anywhere near what you guys are dealing with.
