Chicago Marathon Registration opens Feb 1

it's been a loooooong time since I registered for a big marathon, but if memory serves me, this race tends to fill fast.

I haven't run an open marathon in a very long time (hmmmm, I think Boston in 2006 was my last time) and Chicago wouldn't normally be on my list of next races to do (been there done that). But it's the 10 year anniversary of a group of friends who got together as a rogue group from our local running club to train together TNC "totally non-coached" for Chicago. (See, this Non-coached thing started for me long before EN )

Anyway, several marathons, marriages, babies, and grand babies later, the TNC gang is getting back together to celebrate and I can't leave em hanging!

Any ENers planning to be there?

Hey Nemo,

I'll be there and will probably pace a friend through thier first marathon. You should definetly do it and we can all hit up DMK for some great burgers and fries!

I plan to be there with my son-in-law ( unless heading for Kona-dreaming ). Hoping to qualify for Boston.

$145!!!! When did it get so expensive? Is this standard for a marathon?

What is DMK and do they have a vegi option? The fries sound good. :-)

Hey Nemo, I have the itch to race a marathon. I'm pretty sure 4 weeks after IMWI is not the best time to attempt and race a marathon but I've done stupid things before and may try anyway. I'll let you now if I sign up.

I believe it went about 4-6 weeks before selling out last year but I'm not sure exactly. It definitely sells out fast but nothing like an IM or Boston.

Late to seeing this but thought I let you all know I registered for this a while back. It will be my first marathon. I was registed last year but didn't make it to the start due to a family funeral I couldn't miss. Wasted a lot of training miles but I didn't have a choice. Hopefully no injuries and I'm running with you all this year in October!!

I'm registered too. Gonna be more of a training run for me as I prepare for IMFL.
I can think of about 200 places we can meet up at.
