Who's done a Muddy Buddy?
My sister is starting to get the post-HS fitness bug (you know, when you have to figure out what to do when you no longer have school sports). We have done a few orienteering events in the Chicago area, and recently she started running and is planning on running a 10k (slow, she tells me) in April. So I'm thinking the local Muddy Buddy might be a fun race for us to do together. Has anyone ever done one that can give me an idea of what it's like? She's mentioned an interest in doing a super-sprint once she's shored up her swimming skills, but I thought this might be more fun to race as a team. Thoughts?

I have done the Muddy Buddy twice when it was in my area. They are a BLAST
If its the same set up a mountain bike would be good to have for it.
Both members of the team start off at the same time, 1 person biking 1 person running, you get to the first obstacle and the person biking gets off does the obstacle and then starts running. The runner does the obstacle then takes off on the bike. That continues for a few more times. The last thing is you have to crawl under the cargo net TOGETHER in the mud, and if the announcer sees you trying to avoid the mud you must go back and start the cargo net part again. You then both cross the finish line together.
It will take about 1 week to get all the mud off your body
I highly recommend this race and was sad to see it leave my area.
Your gonna have so much fun, also you need to be together to pick up your numbers, everything is done with your buddy
I have to see if I can find our race photo.
Personally, after popplng/dislocating a rib out of place on an obstacle a few years ago at the local mud run, I wouldn't try this anywhere close to an "A" race.
Make sure to bring beers for post-race and take plenty of muddy pics!
Oh yeah, that was totally taken into consideration. The Chicago one is July 31, and my A race is at the beginning of July, so I'm safe from totally ruining my season Just have to prepare myself for IMWI cheering!
