WKO+ Directory

As some of you might have seen in another thread, I recently added Carbonite online back-up to my "fail safe" precautions for all my computer stuff. It's set to automatically back up the "My Documents" folder on my hard drive.

Well, I realized tonight that the WKO+ software is storing these .wko files in the C:Program FilesCycling Peaks WKO+dataAlexander Scott directory.

If I wanted to switch that folder/directory to be in the "My Documents" area, so Carbonite backs it up, how would you do it?

-The 'ol windows way: manually create a new folder where I want it, drag all the existing .wko files there, and then on the next save(s) in WKO, just choose the new directory? Will it learn?

-Or is there a WKO+ setting somewhere that shows the root directory I want to use?

  • Scott,

I don't have an answer but are you on v3.0.  I am still on 2.2 and can't come up with an easy answer.

    1) Save the data files and reinstall pushing the data to your wanted 'My Documents folder'.

    2) I assume it's not an option to have Carbonite back up C;Program Files....Alexander Scott directory?

Hopefully someone will have a better answer.

  • Hi Scott

I couldn't find how to change the directory in WKO + where you save your workout data.

I am pretty sure that when I installed WKO+ v 3.0 that I was asked where I wanted the workout data stored. Mine is at "Peterdocuments raining PeaksWKOdataGreagg, Peter".

Perhaps one answer would be to export all your data, and then re-install WKO+ and when it is being installed you could nominate a folder within "my documents" (which I think Gordon was hinting at), and then importing your workouts  — not a great solution but a work around.

Maybe someone else has a better idea?

    Good luck

    Cheers

    Peter

  • 3.0 sets the workout data to be in the Documents fold of the user logged on.

2.X does not and there is not a visible setting.

I went searching the Windows registry in 3.0 to see if there was a setting but couldn't fine a setting so I'm not too sure 2.x would have one either.

I can't imagine the back-up solution you are using wont let you back up multiple directories. If it really can't, I'd find another backup solution or if you aren't on 3.0, upgrade to that.
  • You should be able to a couple of things with your carbonite. The client actually adds some features to the windows explorer. If you browse to your folder that is holding the WKO+ files you should just have to right click on the folder, select Carbonite-->Back This Up and it will add it to the list. If the option comes up and says "Don't back this up" it is already being backed up through Carbonite and you are in good shape.
  • What Tom said. I'll have to double check when I get upstairs, but I'm pretty sure the Carbonite backs up my WKO files in the odd location that TrainingPeaks puts them. I recall contacting TP a few years back asking them if I could move the files to another directory and the answer was "no". But that was probably under V 2.2, not sure what the answer is now with 3.0
  • Whew, I'm not going crazy - I'm not the only one that couldn't find the option.

Should have mentioned that I'm still on WKO+ v2.2.

I'll try the Carbonite "back this up" method, by using the right-click.

It's been over a week and Carbonie is still doing the initial back-up. UGH, takes FORever!

  • I use Mozy, which I think is very similar to Carbonite. It allows me to back up certain directories and/or file extensions. I use this feature to make sure it's got my wko stuff.
  • Did it last night, Carbonite "back this up" method, by using the right-click - and it worked. PHEW!!!

    Thanks all.
