water/sweat proof bluetooth headphones

Can anyone recommend a set of bluetooth headphones that are sweatproof?  I don't need to swim in them, but just survive a sweaty indoor ride or run.  I really like not having a wire to fool with, and I had a pair I really liked, but after a sweaty indoor run they just stopped working, and I assume the moisture killed them.

thanks

  • I have heard very good things about the JayBird products, but haven't actually used any of them myself. If you are member of USAT I believe we also get some type of special pricing.

  • I've had the same question as my iphone/ipod standard white headphones are constantly falling out of my ears while on the treadmill.
  • I read up on the Jaybirds after Peter's recommendation and they sound pretty good so I ordered a pair.  They have a lifetime warranty against sweat damage and offer a 15% discount to USAT members.  I'll let you know what I think when I get them.

I had a pair of Motorola S305s and I liked them but they lasted two weeks.  Now that I've gone wireless I can't go back.

    Thanks Peter!

  • @Chris.. let me know how they go. I've been through several pairs and all die after awhile with sweaty workouts. I've since given up on wireless and went with klipsch earbuds that are awesome and have held up fine this OS, but still have the wire to deal with.
  • I have had the Jaybird headphones since October. Never an issue with them. Love them.
  • @Chris which set of headphones did you buy? I just looked at the site and realized that they no longer sell the model i have. Mine are over the ear headphones, not the sportsband they are now advertising.
  •  Sportsband in black.  I can't wear earbud type phones.  They don't fit in my ears.   They've been shipped, should have them by the end of the week.

  • Ah ok, let me know how they work. Sometimes I don't like how they feel in my ears but for the most part I love not having the wire. Feels so free.
  • They arrived today.  The fit is nice and snug and the sound is better than I expected, and also better than my last set of bluetooth headphones, the Motorola S305.  They have a nice deep sound with adequate bass for their size.  I will do the run in them tomorrow on the treadmill and report back.

  • I have a hybrid solution that works well for me. Jabra makes a bluetooth receiver that hangs around your neck, clips on to clothing, or just tucks into a little pocket http://www.jabra.com/sites/mobile/na-us/products/pages/jabrabt3030.aspx. It uses a corded headset/earbuds, but at a fraction of the size and weight of my phone/mp3 player. The earbuds that come with it are the only ones i've had that haven't been killed by sweat. Maybe I'm just lucky, they don't seem like anything special, but I've been using them for 3 years now with no problem. And if those earbuds don't work for you, you can swap in any other headset or earbuds with a standard plug.
Good luck with the Jaybirds, let us know what you think.
  • The Jaybirds are working out well so far.  I did a hard one hour run on the treadmill in them last week and they were great.  They fit well enough to not move around and the sound was fine.

They also pair up very easily with both my computer and iPhone, and I've also used them for several phone conversations and they have no problems.  Battery life is pretty long as well and I just charged them last night for only the 2nd time since I've had them with at least 6 hours of use.

    So far so good.

  • I saw these earbuds last week but forgot to post.  They claim sweatproof and that they will not fall out of your ear.  Now idea how they do it but looked interesting.  If I didn't have my bluetooth headphones already I would buy a pair.
