Blowing through PT hub batteries?

Okay, I know I'm riding a lot more and my PT is getting well used, but I've replaced my batteries twice in the past 6 weeks.   I ride a lot but not that much!  This doesn't seem right. I know it's the batteries because as soon as I put in the new ones, the Garmin beeps and recognizes the PT, before I even spin the wheel.

Before I call Saris, I was wondering if anyone has had this happen to them before. Is there something I should be doing to put the hub into Sleep mode?   Hub is a 2008 Sl+  being used with my Garmin 705.  I'm using the silver oxide batteries recommended for the hub in the manual. Thanks for any ideas/help/suggestions!

  • Shannon,

I have a 2.4+ that I was using, upgraded to a sl+ for my tri bike, and put the 2.4 in storage in my garage. Everything was working great before storage, switched the hub to campy over the weekend to put on my road bike, and upon trying to pair it batteries were dead? Seems like it sitting caused them to die? Maybe cold from garage?
  • Unless you've got that wheel spinning on a centrifuge while you aren't riding, I can't think of a reason you'd be tearing through batteries at such a pace. Call Saris.
  •  Unless you are storing the wheel somewhere really cold I would call saris asap.  When PT hubs start doing strange things is usually means they are ready for a pillgrammage back to the place of their birth.
