New EN Member

Hey,

Just  joined and found this place to hang. Man there is soooo much information all over the place it makes my head spin. I'm 54 been in the races for a few years now. Did my first IM, IMFL 2010 and looking forward decided to buy an OS plan currently at week 10.

Goal for 2011 is Beach to Battleship Wilmington NC, along with lots of C races. I live in South Jersey and that is where I shovel my snow.

I'm trying to add my photo to my membership to attach a face to the place but am not having any success with any size photo I apply any suggestions ?

Any suggestions or neat things you folks could share as to where to get up to speed with what the goings on are round here would be helpful.

Thx D

David, Welcome to the House! I see you got your photo attached.

To get into the swing of info flow – a couple of thoughts:

    -        Take a look through the WIKI – read the new New Members and Vets start hear page

    -        Join the out season group that your plan aligns with. You said you are in week 10 so that would mean the December OS right? There you will see posts from the DEC OS group on how their OS is going – I get motivated to do my workouts by following the threads in MY OS group.

    -        When I log into EN I go to the Dashboard first to see what is going on in the house. Then I go to the forums and check activity on My Topics, then Active, Topics then, Not read.

Good luck navigating through the tons of info on the site.
  • Thanks Matt,

How do I join an OS group ? Where do they live ?

  • Hi David,

I am near Woodbury, NJ and I run with a club on Thursday nights and at Rowan on Sundays. If you would like to get out and run sometimes I would love to meet up with a fellow ENer at the club run! Let me know. Welcome to EN I have been here about a year and I have really improved and am looking forward to this season.

  • Christy,

Hey your close. I swim at Rowan and run out of Glassboro through Pitman into Whenona on Sundays for my long run. I work 2nd shift so during the weekdays that is out for me. When it gets nice out , there is a group of us that bikes out of Rowan on Saturdays , you may want to hop on in.

Are you doing any local races this year ? This Saturday is a 10 mile run out of the college if your interested ?

  • Matt,

    Thanks again !!

    I'm a Snowflake now... ha ha ....

  • Looking to do a 10 mile race this weekend. I have been doing this Vdot training for about 2 months now , vs HR, and it is quite challenging. When I used to get to a certain HR I could slow down now I just blow the doors off that.
I don't think I can maintain that Vdot for its prescribed 10 mile pace. It shows I can but just in training .... I'm not so sure

  • David,

I am doing a few, Probably Riverwinds, I do well there and it is a good test tri for me. I will miss the 10 miler (swim meets are sucking up Feb for us), but I have been to most of the Rowan 5Ks this winter. I run from Woodbury to Wenonah on my long runs so maybe we have passed on the roads!

I would love to bike with your group if you are not too fast image I am getting better with the bike, but still not more than B group for the local rides.

Good luck this weekend, I hear it is a nice and very flat race. Several of my friends will be running.
