What do you do with your bib numbers?

I've got mine hanging on a cork board behind my desk at work.

So, what do you do with your bib numbers?

  • We actually do nothing with ours. We have raced a zillion races between the two of us. I only have my IM and marathon ones in a bin somewhere. Some are in scrap books. If you walked in our house you would never know we race. No medals or pics or race numbers anywhere.

Now the garage... Well you would know we are athletes.

  • I saved them for years and finally tossed the majority of them when we packed for the move- hanging onto my first race, first marathon, first Ironman. But that's one pretty wall ya got there!
  • Cary, that is pretty dam impressive. When I come home from a race and unpack, the number goes into a drawer with the rest of them. I thought I had quite a bit... unitl I saw all of yours. My thinking was that once I had "enough" I would find something cool to do with them, only I don't know what that "cool" thing is quite yet.
  • Cary - I only keep special ones...all my number "1"s from back in the day, #50, #100, #500, #1000 plus marathon & IM bib numbers and a few overseas bibs. I have a neat cloth number from a 10,000 on the track in Copenhagen. But they are just in a folder, nothing like your cool display!
  • Like Chuck, mine just go into a drawer, but only the cool ones or from the first time I did a specific race, which makes them memorable.

I've seen people with a big shower curtain ring, all of them threaded thru using the pre-cut corner hole. I always thought that was kinda cool.

Wish I would have written stuff on them all this time tho, like finish times, etc.

The coolest one I got, was #597 from IMAZ2007 (when it was still in April), and it had "Alexander" written across it. I framed it and gave it to my parents since they're address is 597.

  • They go in the trash. Only one I still have is IMWI and I couldn't even tell you where I put it.
The medals all get donated to Medals for Mettle. I kept a few unique ones: ceramic, IMWI, mt bike race
  • I have all my medals hanging on a piece of driftwood that looks like a dragons head.  Most of my bib numbers are on a 2" split ring like Scott mentioned, and most have finish times along with age/sex/overall places.  I think of it as my 'race bling'.    It stands in the corner of the bedroom.
