Ready to start training after layoff

I took most of Decmber and January off after a getting  a bad cold and sinus infection in late November.  I think I may have been somewhat burned out from the previous season because I just couldn't get motivated to train which isn't like me. I am registered for the Disney half (5/14) and I feel sure I can do it but I am at a loss as to where to start training. The twelve week training plan would start next week with 13+ hours in the first week and I don't think I am up for that yet.

  • Hit up the OS for 4-5 weeks, add some z1 (on the run, maybe 30-45 min)) and z3 (on the bike, maybe an extra 45-60 min) to the weekend workouts and you will be ready to jump into the HIM plan at 8 weeks out. Also, I would grab 2 swims/week, maybe one on Mon or Fri and the other on Wed...making sure to keep a day off (Mon would probably be best so you can recover from the weekend). You will be in great shape and ready to go!
  • Or you can use the Basic Week to get ready as well. Just anything for a few weeks before the big push. Feel free to draft something up or post to the MACRO thread for feedback!!!!
