Joule mounting
I am almost ready to pull the trigger on getting a Joule, but I'm worried about where to mount it. I ride a Felt B2 with the bayonet fork and integrated stem. It seems like most folks mount the joule on the stem. It doesn't look like there is room on mine. My cervo is mounted on the aero extension. The joule looks substantially larger in the pictures. I am thinking it may interfere with my water bottle mount there. Does anyone have one mounted on an integrated front end. If so how and do you have a picture? Thanks for your help.

Garmin 500: 1.9"x2.7".85"
Joule 2.0: 2"x3.5".1"
I would definitely have .4" of play in either direction before it started to get in the way of the water bottle setup. What water bottle setup are you using: torpedo, PD Aero Drink or lollipop?
I've got a Cervelo P3SL with a joule. It's a little tight, but it works. If it didn't, I'd ditch the bike in favor of my Joule
Mount the bottle on the front too. Didn't have one handy
when I took the pic, so I just found another bottle lying around.

Carl,
When I ride the road bike, reading the Joule and all the various screens, is no problem at all. Riding in areo, Joule visibility drops quite a bit. I end up really just watching the top two lines occasionally, watts and normalized watts. If I sit up for any reason, I'll often scan the other data, but generally, while riding, it's watts only and all other data goes into the post ride analysis.

My problem with the stem mount (which I used to do) is that it's just not that easy to read. A lot of the time, your head will be further ahead, so you have to look not just down but down and back...
So I reverse the set up: My water bottle is right up against the stem (or pseudo stem in your case). My Garmin 705 is mounted WAAAY up front between the bars. The clamp is actually around the bar tape on the left extension bar. In the absence of a rider, it looks really stupid and like a block in the wind, but I have it so that it's tucked immediately behind my left (and to a lesser extent - right) hand when I'm actually riding. (And of course, it's also in front of the water bottle) Now it's MUCH easier to look at...eyes down, but at least still forward looking.
I can get a picture later if this if that's not clear.
How hard is it to get your water bottle in our out? I would think you would be clipping the Garmin all the time.
However, I have about an inch between the nipple of the water bottle and the back of the Garmin. (It's a relatively large one, the 705...not SO different in size from the Joule
I have enough room that there's really no issue getting a full sized water bottle in and out without touching the Garmin at all.

I'm with William on this one... almost impossible for me to actually see my computer on my stem when I'm in the aerobars. I've never had an issue getting the bottle in or out, but sometimes it does splash water on the computer screen.
Here are a few pictures of my past setups:

Indeed, Matt's set up is quite similar to what I was trying to describe. I'm currently using s simple commercial "universal mount" that only attaches to one bar, rather than a bridging bar like Matt shows...but same idea.
My Joule is mounted in the same spot as Tom's (sans bottle and holder). On the stem my Joule tilted a bit down towards the rear of the bike and that along with the mirror-like reflections in the glass (you can see a reflection of something in tom's pic) made it hard to see. Probably like Tom.
I ended up remounting the Joule and putting a wedge under the mount so that the Joule tilted up into more level position. That made a big difference. The mirror-like issue isn't that bad anymore but I am still noodling adding one of those protective screens you can buy for a smart phone to reduce the reflection from the glass. An example: http://www.amazon.com/Mirror-Screen...B000J4YU3A
Not sure if this adds any value, but thought I would throw it out there.

Instead of the wedge, you can easily fix the screen angle issue by running a -17 degree stem as well. That puts the stem completely flat and your computer or water bottle flat.
@Matt - Your are WAAAAYYYY smarter at this stuff than I am with this stuff. But I think a couple of .02 washers, two zip ties and 5 minutes is way easier. I'm just sayin'.
And I am out sorta out in front of my Joule when in aero and I have to look down to see the display, but it is only for very brief moments. Not like I do when staring at the loooonnnnnggggg seconds tick down when on the drainer. And no coming out of tucked position to see it. For me at least.
If there were a better or more convenient place to mount for me, I would do it. I looked at all the positions for my particular set-up.
Hope all is well.

I have since moved this forward to about where you see the electrical tape. Makes screen angle better. Obviously, this Mancona style
@ Gina - Is this simply two zip ties stretched tight between the aerobars? If so, are there issues with a bouncing Joule being hard to read, or does it stay steady? I've just been using my Joule for 2-3 weeks now, and only once outside, and the stem mount I'm using is making me nervous about my ability to keep my eyes on the road. I don't use a bottle between the bars, so I can put it anywhere there, just wondering about its stability.
Could not find a better picture of mine but have it mounted on one of the extensions. It is much easier to see than when it is on the stem. I want to keep my head up as much as possible for aero and not running into stuff reasons. I also have run a between the bars bottle but my bars are wide enough that it sets down in between them. When I have a cage between the bars [that pic was at a sprint] I put the Joule even farther out the extensions so it is just under my wrist.
this is my set up. x-lab torpedo with x-lab aero computer mount. i connect the computer mount to the torpeedo, but you can also connect the aero computer mount to the stem, where the spacers go.

sorry meant to send this side view along with the top view, not two top views.
I do the same as Gilberto
Gina:
Would you mind taking a closer pic if the zip ties. Maybe from underneath? Also, it looks like you have carbon aerobars? Or are they aluminum? If carbon, any issues with them flexing in when you pull the zip ties super tight?
