Runners Knee

Every now & then when I finish running I have extreme pain in both knees directly after running.  Symptoms appear to be best described as runners knee.  I cannot figure out a variable for the cause.  I strech well before & after & walk a bit on both ends to cool down.  The pain is equal & feels like it is under the knee cap.  The pain is very sharp & may last for 20min after & then I am fine.  No lingering side effects or performance problems & my knees don't hurt during running, just right after, and not every time & distance does not matter either.  Help!  ???????????????????

  • I have had phases of training when I have lt that, but I don't think mine has been nearly as severe as you are reporting. I have wondered what is causing that as well.
  • Check out the two posts at this link for some ideas on what can cause it and how to start working on it at home:

That being said... if this starts to get worse (symptoms start appearing more frequently or last longer), worth getting checked out by a PT. They can help you loosen up the knee and help figure out what specifically is causing it to get cranky. image
