Swim Golf
Ok, I know many of us are not in the water right now, but i'm one of those folks that really needs to work on technique. Swim golf is included in the OS swim addendum and i've tried it a number of times. I understand that i need to try different techniques to lower my score, but have yet to find the right combination. Hoping someone might have a few suggestions, maybe something that worked well for them.

Try out 2 beat vs 6 beat kick. If you don't do one of those already, learn one and try it. I learnt 2 beat kick, I can go just as fast as I could with my 'old' kick but it doesn't require nearly as much effort. Youtube is your friend for that one - if you want any links for good 2bk stuff shout and I'll post 'em.
The objective isn't to try to improve your golf score. It's to improve your technique and, as a by product, your golf score improves. You'll find there are several ways to artificially improve your score -- long glide off the wall, long glide between strokes, etc -- don't do that. Just use the drills and resources in the Swim Clinic eBook to get better and let the score improve itself naturally.
I am going to go along with the Coach here without getting too deep. Just like forefoot running, in triathlon community, certain things, including "low stroke rate" are becoming a trend among athletes.
In summary, when you take care of your front to back balance, side to side alignment, kick and front part of your stroke, your stroke rate will fall where it should be. There is no magical formula, my rate will not correlate to your.....Long story why.
Work on the drills that help address your specific stroke issues, don't just drill to drill. There is no meaning there. Drill/swims are most effective. Execute drills 100% correct.
Don't worry about the rest. Look above, what Coach said is very true.
In the end, they don't give points for low stroke count. It's ultimately about speed. You and I may have the same stroke count but my golf score might be 62 to your 77, because I'm swimming 30-32" with 32 strokes total to your 45/32.
Yep, just a guideline. Don't get too wrapped up in it or try to game it by doing funky stuff to lower your stroke count.
