LTHR test on spin bike / spin class?
Prior to this week, it's been many months since I have been on the bike. I am just starting OS (late, yes) for a variety of reasons....
Anyhow, I tried a spin class earlier this week and wore my HRM. After the warmup I restarted it to get an average HR for the class.
I felt like I was going about as hard as I could for the last 45-50 mins of the class. Lots of standing, simulated hill climbs, etc. My heart was going! In short, it was on heck of a workout. My HR never really came down much during the class since there were very limited recovery periods it seems. ( I did a second class later inthe week which seemed much easier and the HR chart has more peaks & valleys from the longer recovery periods).
Would it be accurate to use this session as my LTHR test to establish my bike zones? I don't think I could have pushed it harder had I been on my bike outside!
FWIW my average HR (for the 'main set' if you will) was 182.
I'm 42, 160 lbs, 5'11; third season of tri's; usually near top third of MOP for my AG. I did 2 HIMs last year (Quassy and Timberman).

182 bpm average is up there though. I'd probably stroke out if I kept that HR for an hour.
