Turning the corner on 2 dismal weeks

I'm a December OS athlete, so heading into week 13.

My first 2 weeks in the OS were a little rough and I missed some workouts each week. Then I went on an 8 week tear where I didn't miss a single workout. Had to cut a few bike workouts short here and there, but always did the complete MS and never missed one completely. Felt great.

Then 2 weeks ago I started on 2 solid weeks of business travel, literally was away from home for 13 out of 14 nights. For the first week I was gone, I still managed to get 3 runs in, but no rides at all. Then last week, nothing, kaput, not a single workout. And I have 5 extra pounds to show for these last 2 weeks.

Ugh. I feel awful, so bummed because I had such a great run going through the first 10 weeks. I'm sure I'll be feeling much better by the end of this week, after I've had a solid week of workouts behind me, but I'm very disappointed right now. I feel fat and slow.

That's all, just needed to vent.

  • No need to fret about the past. You still have 8 weeks of OS to hammer.
  • Don't worry too much, Jason. If it helps, the OS used to be only 16 weeks long. There are actually four "bonus" weeks. If you want, you can switch groups and join the January clan.
  • Jason, Think of it as a good recovery period mentally and physically...I was in the October OS and took 5 days off during the holidays while seeing family. Made it through OS with out any injury and taking a couple extra days off might have helped accomplish that.
  • Yeah the recovery argument is a good way to look it. My legs are certainly feeling fresh and I'm jonesin for a good burn.
