Which HIM are you doing? When are you transitioning?

I'm doing St. Croix 70.3 on May 1

I'm doing a transition week from NOS on Mar 20-27, and then I'll only have 4 weeks of HIM training before St. Croix.  I've been ramping up the long run/bike and swimming for a couple of weeks.

Comments

  • @ Beverly, I'm doing Charleston HIM April 30 and am transitioning next week, then dropping into the last six week's of the HIM training.
  • I'm doing the Napa Valley 1/2 IM on April 30th. I have 1 more week of the Nov. OS and then I'm going to Maui for 2 weeks as a transition. I've been adding longer rides the last couple of weeks. Then its build up for the race.
Hopefully I will get some swimming and running in while in Hawaii.

    Good luck everyone!
  • I'm doing a race called High Cliffs on June 18th and have 2 more weeks of the November OS. The plan is to take a week transition, maybe two, and the start the build up.
  • I'm doing Ironman 70.3 California (Oceanside) on April 2. I just transitioned from the December OS to week 5 of the Ironman training plan today, in route to IMCDA.
  • Im doing Kanas 70.3 on (?) June 12. I am finishing out the 20 weeks of Nov OS which ends March 20th and then transitioning directly to the HIM Intermediate...Sticking with it then taking a week off to reset my head in week 3....Just taking Friday-Wednesday off then picking it back up on that Thursday.
  • I am doing Kansas 70.3 on June 12th. I will finish up Nov Os around the 27th of march, taking two weeks to transition and dropping into an intermediate plan around the 10th of april.
  • Rev 3 Quassy Half on Sunday June 5. I'm also doing Timberman in August, but I'm calling Quassy my A-race so that I'm freed up to do local sprints and oly's throughout the summer without having to worry so much about how they affect my HIM training plan. Not to mention, Quassy will be my first HIM and I hear it's harder than Timberman.

November OS wraps up March 20, I take 1 week off then drop into Race Prep Week 3 on Monday March 28.
  • Oceanside for me... haven't really transitioned yet but starting to add more volume saturday rides and sunday runs.
  • I will be doing the Macon, GA Rock'N'RollMan 1/2 on Jun 4th. I have five more weeks of November OutSeason before I do a 7-week HIM spinup.

Since the weather is getting better for outside rides, I will start heading outdoors after my intervals indoors are completed.
  • Doing the Gator Half in Sarasota, FL on March 20. Switched over to the HIM plan about a month ago. Jumped in at week 7 after 14 weeks of OS.
  • Oceanside for me.

Did a full Oct OS, finished with the Huntington Beach 1/2 marathon and went into HIM plan after 10 day transition.

    Looking forward to taper already!

  •  Hi All:

As you may or may not know, I have accepted the position within EN as Race Director (Forum post here: http://bit.ly/hBdArr).  In short, I am helping RandP formalize, personalize and building up race week/weekend activities for all you Rock Stars and your families.

Our first foray into this new deal will be at Cali 70.3 where Rich will be.  I am looking for a Race Captain to help with getting the team dinner organized, team pics and vids taken, etc.  It really will be low stress as we have a dinner place identified already.  So it really is more about rallying the troops.  If someone wants to be Assistant Race Captain as well, all the better.

This will be very low stress and will be our beta test for the rest of the IM events (and possibly a couple of other 70.3's) this year.

New this year . . . . we will be testing the Beluga Group app that  is available for the iPhone, Android phones and if you have neither it will do text.  I have been testing with several EN folks and it works really well.  Easy and straight forward communications channel for meet-up locations, Where's Waldo (aka Rich) on race day, etc.  We used a similar app at IMAZ last year and it was very, very cool.

    Beluga app link here:  http://belugapods.com/

So . . . . .Tim, Matt, Scott or anyone else who wants to help us wade into this new program, please let me know if you are interested.  I need to identify someone ASAP (like yesterday).

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Kansas Here. Taking my transition next week, and then hitting the HIM plan.
  • My SO and I are doing Kansas 70.3 on June 12th.

We're repeating week 19 this week, then will do week 20, followed by a 2-week transition. In the middle of transition we're doing the Race for the Roses half-marathon in Portland, OR.

I loaded up the HIM plan to see what our first few weeks were like and realized our timing would put us in Week 4 which is the testing week. Instead, we're going to do either week 1 or 2, and then skip to week 5.

Haven't been outside yet, but plan on doing an outdoor ride the weekends that start and end our transition weeks.
  • Rev 3 Quassy Half on Sunday June 5. Finishing up the November OS now, then two weeks of transition where I will focus on swimming, and getting my new Look tri bike ready to go! IMLP after that.
  • My first every HIM will be in Welland ON, June 26th. I've got an HM to finish up the Nov OS on Sunday, then I'll transition for two weeks before starting the 12-week int HIM plan. The weather is finally clearing up here and I'm looking forward to getting out of my garage and biking outside!
  • @Jim, see you at Quassy! I'm with you on the swim focus, too.
  • I'm in for KS. I am finishing up the NOVOS and plan to do a big bike week next week since I am on Spring Break (I am a teacher). Then 1 week of transition and then the INT HIM plan. Looking forward to getting outside next week and not worrying about intensity. It has been a great OS.
  • ATTN:  IM California 70.3 folks.

    Hi All:

Just a quick heads up that based on the comments from many of you about tight schedules, etc. race weekend that there won't be an "official" team dinner the night before the event with Coach Rich.  However, he will be at the event cheering you all on and will be at Breakwater Brewing Company after from 1:00 to 3:00 for post-race pizza and beers for those who wanna join him.

    http://www.breakwaterbrewingcompany.com/

Also, EN is utilizing the Beluga app this year for race comms at all events.  Rich will be using it for Cali 70.3.   You can download from the App Store or Android Market.  It also work for just texting as well.  It is a great tool so you all can be in contact throughout the event and not have to weed through Twitter, Facebook, etc. clutter.  It is your own private community.  I have created a Pod called "EN Ironman California 70.3."  PM me with your mobile or email  and I will send you an invite.

That's it!  Have a great race everyone!  And don't forget to post your race report after.

    Thanks.

    EN Race Director

  •  In for the Florida 70.3 (Orlando) on May 15. I guess I'll transition this week and roll into the HIM plan starting the first Monday in April.

    Rubin

  • I'll be doing the Racing for Recovery HIM on June 5th in Monroe, MI.

I finished the NOV OS on March 20th and did a local half-marathon to finish it up. I'm in my second week of transition and will be entereing the HIM plan starting on wk4 next week.

  • This looks like the place to be. I jumped into the intermediate half plan last week. Working on buidling towards Eagleman on June 12. Very excited to be racing it this year. I grew up in Cambridge and remember volunteering on the course as a kid. My parents only live a couple miles of the bike course.
  • Rev3 Knoxville for me 5/15. Just dropped into the Spring HIM group.
