Training Schedule Question

I created my schedule leading up to LP using the (example) excel template. I see we have options such 1 or 2 week transitions, etc.

This is my first year with EN and curious if anyone has advice on schedule tweaks specific to LP.

  • Not sure exactly what you mean.  As I was getting burnt on the OS workouts I switched my plan to the 20 week IM one ending on the date of LP.  That should do the trick between now and then.

  • I was referring to the season planning toolkit and all the cool color coding.

    Your resonse made me look again at my plan as well as what is available for me to choose for the next block of training.

    I'm in Nov OS now. My current plan ends on 3/20. It sounds like your suggesting moving directly to the 2011 Ironman 20 week plan with an end date of 7/25. Correct? 

  • Henry, FWIW, I was in theOctober OS.I did two weeks of Transition and then loaded up a General Prep training plan.

    Thats what I did.  You could also stick with the OS plan for the next two weeks, take 2 weeks of transition time and then start the 16 week plan.  I chose what I did as I was sick of doing the OS stuff and therefore not doing too much of it and wanted a change, have started swimming so figured I might as well be on a plan that has swimming and wanted to start doing some longer runs.  YMMV.

  • Here's what my plan looks like, with input from R&P.

    Okay - now I can't remember how to insert an image.  Will do it if I can figure it out.  Basically finish the Nov OS, then 2 weeks transition/get back in the pool, then start 20 week IM plan to end at IMLP - so I would enter that plan at about week 5.  Hopefully the mounds of snow here will be melting by then!  Also doing the Quassy HIM and the rally the follwing week in Lake Placid.
