Clearing Powertap

Hi gang, not sure what happened tonight, so I am going to ask for some help.  Put a new battery in my powertap today and started my ride. It immediately started blinking the word FULL, so I stopped and held the two buttons down until I saw CLR and then resumed, at which time it continued to blink FULL.  I figured that the ride would not be recorded, but at least I had my numbers to look at when I was doing the ride, so I decided to do the ride, hoping (crossing finger here) that it was just a glitch. Anyway, after the ride I went upstairs and did the same process that I always do and low and behold the ride was not there.

Now, here is where I am confused. After I download each ride it asks me if I want to delete the information off the power tap and I always say yes, so I am confused on how it could of gotten full, when I do this after every ride. Am I missing something So, I went into the help section and read about how to clear the device, soooo is it safe to say that I now have a clear device and that this will not happen to me the next time I ride.

Got to be honest, have had nothing but problems with this power tap thingamadoe ever since I got the thing. It eats batteries like made.

Anything you can do to help me would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers my dears.

  • Brenda, sorry to hear about the LYC! I have never trusted that delete function so I manually clear the LYC after I download so I know it is clear. Also, I'm not sure that actually clears the damn thing.
  • Brenda,

Call Saris.  Sounds like your computer is messed up and they should replace it.  If it's eating batteries and now giving you trouble, no doubt it needs to be repaired or replaced.

    They have excellent customer service.

    Good luck,

    Dave

  • and while you have them on the phone ask them about the trade in program on the LYC
  • Chris - what is the LYC?
  • Little Yellow Computer
  • I also had a recent problem with my LYC. Emailed Saris and they guided me through the immediate problem, then offered to replace the unit!  They didnt say why, but i wasnt complaining. They asked for a picture of it and said they would mail out a replacement.

  • As others have said the battery and other issues are suspect.  Like Tucker I also clear my manually.

For the others, how old does you LYC have to be or are they replacing all of them.  I just bought mine last October.

  • I bought mine the fall of last year. He never asked how old it was.

  • Okay so it is my little yellow computer that is causing the problem. I got it brand new with the wheel. I got it from Wheelbuilder. Who should I contact. Wheelbuilder or Powertap?
  • PT. I had a similar problem when mine came. PT replaced the computer -- no problems since.
  • Andrew - thanks. I am going to contact them today.
  • have to send the LYC to them. Ugh. I will be without a power recording source for over a week. Eeeeek.
  • Brenda - Might check on their backlog first.  I've been having problems with my USB connection on the back of my Joule.  PT said it would be 2 weeks before they could turn a new one around (under warranty)...usually takes 24hrs.

  • My guy is Quebec said 24 hour turnaround. Already asked. Thanks.
