SRM PC7 - lost power
Are there any SRM PM peeps out there? The other day I got set to ride on my trainer and I noticed the PC wouldn't show Power (just showed HR, Cad, Spd - but as 0s ofc w/no power). When I try to pair it again - it doesn't even give me the option to pair the PM (just HR and Spd). So I'm assuming it doesn't recognize the PM/Magnet combo (the magnet is glued to bottom bracket and is still 3-5 mm from PM). When I plug the PC7 into computer, the SRM software doesn't even recognize the PC7 - its says please turn on the PC7 - which ofc I do. This makes me think its something w/the PC7 vs. the PM/magnet.
The PM was installed when I bought the bike. This is first time since I got bike/PM (last fall) I'm having any recording/pairing issues. I have an email into SRM - stil waiting on reply. Any clues?
Thanks.
And as I right this post - I get email from SRM telling me to send in the PC7 unit for them to look at.....Hate to train w/o it.....

I always call and talk to shaun...he's walked me thru stuff like this and has always been very helpful. I had similar problem pairing PC7 with new SC sensor. Do you have a Trek sensor ? If so, be sure and pair with Duo S not Duo SC.
Good luck, these problems are a PIA !

thanks.
What OS are you trying to access the PC7? I have a PC6, and access it through WinXP (currently OSX 10.6 -> Parallels 6 -> WinXP).
SRM on Windows is a little fussy about what order you install the SRM software + the USB driver.
The SRM software recognizing the PC6 (or I assume PC7) can/does fail after Windows is put in "sleep" mode. I frequently "suspend" the WinXP instance in Parallels (different than Windows->Sleep), and can connect my PC6 after multiple suspend/resume via Parallels, and have the PC recognized by Windows/USB and the SRM software.
Edit: After putting Windows to Sleep and later resuming, in order for Windows to recognize the USB SRM, I have to restart the Windows OS to clear whatever got whacked by putting it to Sleep.
Also, I find I have to have Parallels, WinXP and the SRM software running before I jack in the PC6 to the USB port.
Yet another... I had a red PC-to-USB cable that was bad at the PC end. I could use it, but only with a significant amount of lateral pressure on the connection at the PC... The USB device would donk in and out as I tried to get the correct leverage. I called SRM and they shipped out a new replacement, no questions asked. Her response was: "there was a bad batch."
Finally, once you get the PC7 connected to the SRM software, go to PC setup, and there will options to set the type of each USB device... I know I had to switch the speed sensor from the Suunto skewer to the SRM(?) frame mounted sensor. You may have similar options for the PC itself. I don't have my PC with me at work, so I can't check further.

I'm about to go ship it off to SRM now -
Thanks for all the info.
