Fun things I did on my Transition vacation

I thought this might be a fun topic.  What fun stuff did you do during transition with all the extra time & energy?

I'm a few days into transition week 1, and I'm doing a low-key mountain bike race for fun this weekend.  I sux at mtn biking (no skills) and I am also so far the only participant of my gender, so I've got the win in the bag already!  No pressure to go fast so should be super fun!

Oh - and I'm also going to geek out on my tri bike aerodynamics and cool factor.  I'm taking video to send to TTBikes.  I'm going to try to get stickers made that match my local team kit.

  • Only having 1 wk transition and dropping into last six weeks of HIM training for first A race.

I took first 3 days totally off (had to travel for work two of those, so made logistics easier). Ran last night and swam this morning and am going to do the 56 RR tomorrow and then 40+ miles on Sunday, just to see how my legs/body handles the volume jump.
  • I did my first double century bike ride on 3/26 in Solvang, California. They say the scenery is quite beautiful but it was hard to see trhough all of the rain.

Next week, I am scheduled for a tri bike fitting - woo hoo! Maybe the fitter will insist that I get a new tri bike?

The FL 70.3 (5/15) is fast approaching - yikes - I had better start running.

  • I trapped some moles that have been reeking havoc on my yard, so far I've got 4 of them. My pond had too much snow and not enough oxygen this past winter so a lot of fish died, so I've been picking up dead fish as they wash ashore. A creek runs behind our house my wife and I waded in the creek and picked out several pickup loads of big rocks and did some landscaping with them, making some beds. Country living at its finest. I've rode my bike and ran a few times as well. I think I logged 30 miles of running last week. I am off work until Friday
