Spartacus Video
Hard to find a more awsomer display of raw cycling power! My favorite parts:
- Bridges up to a group and rather than sitting on the back for 20-30 secs to recover before attacking...he just rolls over the right side, drops the hammer and dares them to come to him and hang on.
- Rabobank doode tries sitting on his wheel...then drops with massive cramps!
Not sure where it is in the video but look for a cyclist named "Vanmarcke." You'll see is name on the bottom. He's the cousin of one of my local training homies, Ben Vanmarcke, EN training plan athlete. Ben is a former junior cycling something from Belgium who fell off the wagon, fitness-wise and gained a bunch of weight. Started cycling again a couple years ago at about...230-240lb or so, and had gotten down to 195lb. We still call him the Belgian Waffle , but with an FTP of >335w, when he drops into the aerobars, you better pay attention and not get gapped!
Anyway, Ben's cuz rides with an SRM but knows nothing about it. Ben asked what his FTP was...and he had no idea, says he watches his HR. I've asked Ben to get his cousin's power file from this race

Sorry, here you go.
From Ben's cousin: "Ridiculous"
Dam that guy is strong!
Funny to listen to tho..."ljdflajf fldasfjadlf fjaslfjasld;fjijewi CANCELLARA! ldkfa dfifaouif foifjweoifj CANCELLARA!!!"
"Tankink crumpen ... Tankink crumpen!" Whatever that means, it doesn't sound good for Bram. (In the hospital, when someone "crumps", we mean they've died.)
Chris: They've x-rayed that Madone...no motor. It's the special bearings in his BB and hubs that make him go so fast!
Turns out that the UCI will now be testing friction on bearings, etc. Their brand new guideline will basically completely disallow all ceramic or ceramic hybrids:
