Quarq/ Garmin Edge 500 question

This weekend was my first weekend using my new quarq power meter. Everything went smoothly but I noticed when I upload my Garmin info to the Garmin website...it showed my average power as 229w but WKO shows the avg power as 209w. Why would that be??? Thanks for any info anyone can give me.

  • WKO includes zeros in the average and Garmin connect does not. These are both set and you cannot change this.

However, you can configure this on the device. If you do not include the zeros, your average will be overstated, but it is a good ESTIMATE of normalized power. If you include the zeros you should have the same average on the device as in WKO, which will be lower than your normalized power.

I would ignore the different averages and learn to focus on normalized power, VI, TSS, and IF as that they will tell you much more about your ride.
