Week 6 of intermediate HIM

Coaches -

Week 6 of the Intermediate HIM says we have a 135 min run for our Thursday long run.  Just checking to see if that was a typo or correct.  Thanks

  • My big concern was it goes from a 105 minute run in week 5 to a 135 minute run in a week. Just seemed like a big jump for a week. Thanks
  • Anyone else notice this?????????
  • I did, but went from OS right into last 6 weeks of intermediate HIM training and so the volume jump was rather intense. Took me about 3 weeks, but I have now settled into the volume.

  • I asked about this in the Macro thread :

    Me :

I've just started the 12 week HIM Intermediate plan. Current FTP is 232, vdot 56.5. Looking ahead in the plan I see some really long runs in the int plan. Week 6 has a 135 minute (2hr15min) run, which seems really long to me when I am training for an HM. A 2hr15min run for me in Z1 would be almost 18 miles. Adding in the Z3/Z2 work and I'll be closer to 20. Again, that seems really long when I'm training for a 13 mile run.

    Rich :

@Mark: yeah, that sounds like a misprint. You're fine at 1:45-2hrs

    -------------

I'm thinking that I'll probably stop at 1:45 or 14 miles, whichever comes first.  I know my legs will probably still be feeling the bike work from Wednesday, so a longer run will just impact my recovery time even more.

    cheers - mark
