  • Did my long ride yesterday because of better weather and my daughters birthday party today. Weather was ok but have to admit the legs weren't there. There is a good reason the long run and bike are separated. Rode solo for about 3:40 and 62ish miles. The elevation gain depends on where you look. Garmin tells me 4k, then ridewithgps tells me 5k and mapmyrde says 2k. It was certainly was more than 2k I can tell you that. But I really don't get the differences. And 2 of them use a Google map!
All I could manage was .75 for the ride. Oh well. Lesson learned. On the upside, I now know exactly how to get to the Long Valley Brewpub. Should have stopped there. Some nice climbs outof there though.
  • Rainy, windy day in NJ meant it was the trainer for me today. Cracked at the 3 hour mark. That was about all I could take of staring down the blades of a fan. Overall the ride wasn't too bad. Struggled with the first 2 FTp intervals. Expected this a little bit since I have been trying to hold my outside road bike watts on the tri-bike with the trainer. The rest of the ride was uneventful and did 2 hours of fairly steady 75-80% work.

Tomorrow looks like a much better day weather-wise. Have a soccer game in West Windsor in the early afternoon. Taking the bike and gear with me. Planned a decent ride back through Princeton and Somerset to Piscataway. Fairly flat roads should allow for a decent ABP ride. Hopefully the roads I picked are car free, if that is possible in NJ.

  • Boy are my legs sore after a few hours of trying to keep up with Michael. We had a nice hilly ride this morning and it was my first time off the trainer with the new bike. I was surprised at how much more comfortable the bike was in the aero position than I was expecting. Now I just need to condition my neck muscles so I can stay in that position longer. We did the ABP ride today so tomorrow will be the brick workout that was supposed to be today.
  • It was good to ride with fellow En'er Allen and to make history being with him when he took his bright shiny Cervelo out for its first taste of the open road. Not a bad ride on a pretty hilly course. Today was the brick for me and other than battling the wind, did well and I think I'm really developing my IM run cadence/rhythm with these bricks. A big week coming up, so get some sleep everyone and tell your spouses and family you'll see them Sunday, because Saturday will be a blur by the time your big day is done... image
