HIM Charleston RR plan

OK, so I have RR#2 this weekend.

Planning on doing everything as I will on race day. Had nutrition/hydration/electrolyte issues in RR#1, based on the last two weekends of back-to-back rides, I believe I have that dialed in.

I am going to do the 2AM smoothy meal, followed by 5AM lite breakfast and hit the road at 7.

My question is with regard to pacing, based on my 3 hr rides with FTP power (current FTP 284) within the last three weeks, I should be able to do the rehearsal/race in <2:45-2:50.</p>

This is my first long course tri since my last IM in 1998, and post three knee surgeries the last of which was in 2007. Consequently, I am planning on being very conservative since I have never had a good run after a bike in a HIM or IM, and so am trying to map the zones.

Have gone through all the wiki info, webcasts, and other info on HIM pacing. I also have pulled down the two different pacing tables.

Looking for thoughts re: my plan of going at 80% IF with a goal TSS of 180, giving me a goal watts for the ride of 227. I am actually a much stronger rider than runner.

Thoughts/reactions/comments?

thanks,

paul
