Hacks?

 Hey y'all,

I asked some time ago about the "bike hack" many have referred to, but never heard back from anyone.  What it is?  Where do I learn more?

Now I'm in OS week 16 and with the weekly video it says, "Note run hack".  I'm not sure how to note it because I don't know what it is. Help!

I think I probably asked in the wrong place previously... I posted it to my OS group, but maybe no one reads that.  In fact, I thought I was getting a sampling of what people were talking about on the dashboard, but evidently you're all chatting it up over here in the forums and I've been out in the lobby.

Thanks for any help you can give.

  • Sarah,

If you are in the Jan OS my apologies as I have pretty much abandoned my OS group.  All the other OS groups will have completed the 20 weeks and you should start to post to the other forums as members stop checking the disucssions.

There used to be referred to a bike or run hack I believe the best document in the wiki is now the 'focusify'.  IT gives you the recommendations to focus on frequency, intensity or volume different area in any of the sports.

  • Sarah- I'm going from memory here because I went back and searched and can't seem to find the actual response... But I asked a very similar question when I was doing the Oct OS. I heard about and wanted to do the "bike hack". When I asked RnP about it (maybe it was in one of the Monday night chat rooms) they said that they did a "bike hack" last yr, but most people that tried it basically cooked themselves and it negatively affected their downstream workouts so they did away with it for this yr. I think the reference to it in the podcast is simply it sneaking in because they recycled one of last yr's podcasts into this yr's plan.
  • Also check out the "Volume Strategy Series" in the wiki. It's three parts which explain how to hack your plan to do BBW, etc. There's also a Marathon Hack under the Run section.

Last year there was a bike power seminar where a test group had their OS plans "hacked" to test out some theories of RnP. What was helpful was integrated into the OS plans, and what was not was left out.
  • Yes, please ignore those mentions of hacks. They have either been incorporated into the plans or fully terminated. I will work on updating the plans so you don't see those anymore!
  • Thanks so much for the responses. I'll not be hacking.
