RR1 Course Selection

Quick race rehearsal question:

  • Is there any reason why I would *not* want to do my RR on some/all of the actual race course?  I know the wiki guidance is to do a flat course.  However, the course is moderately hilly and I could easily modify to be more or less hilly based upon what parts of actual course I include in my RR.

Thanks,

Joe

  • Hey Joe, I've raced that course 5 times. I would suggest a RR on the course. That course will reward a conservative well executed bike. If you don't, you'll give back big time on the run. Can be miserably hot. I did it one year, heat index during run 112. I lost 8 lbs in a half and thought I was drinking a ton. Good Luck with it. I've got several friends from the Dublin area doing it.

  • The only reason I could think as to why the coaches would not want you to do the actual race course is for consistancy when measuing your second RR as well. Some people will not be able to logistically do both RR's on the actual course and a flat course close to home will provide a better comparision. I think if your are able to ride the actual course, it will only make you more at ease come race day and know exactly where and when to expend your energy. I plan to ride the Rev 3 course in Middlebury this Saturday. Anyone else in?
